It is generally believed that our traditional culture is made up of three parts that are the Confucianism, the Taoism and the Buddhism. It is also believed that the Confucianism and the Taoism are mutually complementary. Anyhow, the fact that the Taoists is one of the most important sects is unquestionable. Its early representative works, Tao Te Ching, which is weak but outstanding, affluent but simple is well known for its life philosophy, which is characterized by inactivity and spontaneousness. It has an active and deep influence on the Chinese history and the world culture. The humanism thought and contemporary value of Lao Tzu were explored roundly and were perceived from various angles in this paper.The paper was divided into three main sections, the introduction, the main body and the ending words. The topic was introduced in the introduction and the main section followed it. The main body was mentioned below.The first part was the basic structure and the character of the life thought of Lao Tzu. It believed that the humanism thought of Lao Tzu was a kind of naturalistic humanism thought. The basic structure included: the ontological foundation (the theory of the Tao), the foundation of the theory of human nature (the theory of naturalistic human nature),the background of its humanism horizon( the exploration of the relation between the human and nature) and the destination and the life realm ('Tao') of the humanism thought of Lao Tzu. The main developmental clue and the basic logic structure of the humanism thought of Lao Tzu were also analysed.The second part was the main contend of the humanism thought of Lao Tzu. It believed that the main contend included the theory of the life value (the theory was divided into the thought which gave top priority to spiritual life over material life, the theory of the choice of life value of few selfishness and desire, the outlook of life and death which is characterized with one who aims at life achieves death), the theory of life practice (It was divided into three parts: the method of self-cultivation which purpose was protecting the real life, the life creed which was characterized with one who acted without striving and the life attitude which was characterized with gentleness and weakness), the social, political and moral ideal which gave top priority to the human (It was divided into three parts: the social ideal which was characterized with 'a small country with few inhabitants' the political ideal which was characterizedwith kingdoms could be governed by inactivity and the moral ideal which was naturalistic moral). The concrete contend of the humanism thought of Lao Tzu was also accounted briefly.The third part was the development and contemporary value of the humanism thought of Lao Tzu. It included three sections: the development of humanism thought of Lao Tzu under the condition of being replenished by the Confucianism, the humanism thought of Lao Tzu and the Marxism humanism, the contemporary value of the life thought of Lao Tzu. By combining with the latest humanism achievements home and abroad, using Marxism basic stand, viewpoint and method, humanism thought of Lao Tzu was evaluated scientifically and was perceived from different aspects.
