In the 18th century Vietnam had been devided into two parts for a long term .Nguyen controlled the south,and the Trinh governed the north .So the king of the Le dynasty didn't have the effective power.But Qing dynasty only kept official relation with the Le government in the view of legitimate concept.Tay-son rebellion was broken out in 1771.After they beated Nguyen in the south, they broke into the capital of the Le dynasty for two times.Le duy ky asked the Qing government for help.In order to fufil the suzerain duty ,Qianlong sent the Governor-General of Guangdong and Guangxi,Sunxiyi to attack Tay-son.When Sun took up the capital,he helped Le rebuild his government.In the same time,Nguyen hue declared himself as the king in the place of Le .Then he led his army to sweep down Sun's and take up the Bac-ky.In order to avoiding being attacked again,Nguyen hue sent emissary to go to beg Qing government to confess him as the legal king of Vietnam .Qianlong recognized that Nguyen hue had been the governor in practice,so he decided to confess Nguyen hue as the king pf Vietnam. After the relation between the two countrys recovered ,the communication in economy and culture was made great progress.After the death of Nguyen hue ,his son,Nguyen quang Toan took his turn to be the king.The Tay-son dynasty came into decline,but Nguyen phuc Anh in the south began to flourish and contest with Tay-son.This time Qing government executed the Policy of no interference. When the Tay-son government was overthrown ,Nguyen quan Toan sent emissary to ask for help in Guangdong.But Jiaqing refused his application in case of the former lesson. Then he accepted the government of Nguyen phuc Anh as the dependency.
