Study, On The Late Qing Study System Evolution

In the modern history of China,the Study Abroad System was founded in later Qing Dynasty,when the western powers broken the country gate and Qing Dynasty was forced to study from them in order to save its ruling crisis.In the period of its development,the Study Abroad System of later Qing Dynasty evolved from foundation to formation, perfection and passed away in the end. The Study Abroad System of later Qing Dynasty could be divided into following three parts,the selection system,the mangement system,the examination and employment system.The selection system included organization,pattern,requirement and subject; the mangement system,examination included its organization and measure; the examination and employment system included its measure,procedure and way to the abroad students when they returned.During the foundation period, the Study Abroad System of later Qing Dynasty was obviously temporary and irrigular;in the course of imperfection,it was gradually standardized and systematized.From then on,with the establishment of the Education Department, the Study Abroad System continued to be perfected,and was stable,continuance and practical.After Qing Dynasty was destroyed, this Study Abroad System was also abolished. On the influence of the educational thought of "the Chinese culture as basic and western culture as tool", the Study Abroad System of later Qing Dynasty was doomed to have some defects and limitations,but it is the beginning of Study Abroad System of China,which has played an important role in the modernization progress of China.
