The current theoretical dilemma of our mental health education research, fundamentally speakly, is attributed to excessively emphasizing the empirical method, but ignoring theoretical reasoning in a sense. Because of the low position of argumentation, much work of the reseach into mental health education is beating around the phenomenon level and, walking around some educational "techniques". Therefore, it is essential to probe into the basic concepts of mental health education on the philosophical level so as to clear the chaos in the theoretical research of mental health education, to further the deeping of the practical work of it as well.According to the fundamental principle of the unification of history and logic in materialist dialectics and the examination of the views of major schools of scholars on mental health education in history, we hold that the start-point of the view on mental health education is the real human being in living world and it is envolving the pratical wisdom of the life. Setting forth from the preceding concept, the current thesis further analysed the mental view, the healthy view, and the educational view, and put forword that: mentality is the managing system of individuals' life activities; mental health is the effectiveness of individuals' management of their life activity system; the essence of mental health education is to promote individuals' effective management of the life activity system. As a subject of practical wisdom, the ultimate goal of mental health education is to guide individuals to live a happy and perfect life in real society.The research into the view on mental health education is a field of mental philosophy and educational philosophy, which can build a theoretical foundation, provide a perspective for study and, construct a theoretical framework for establishing fundamental theory of mental health education.
