Recent decades, with the frequent occurrence of vicious events on campus, the increase of juvenile crime rate, and the widely report of media, the mental health education of teenagers has drawn more and more attention.Since the1980s, our country has begun the mental health education. After the initial investigation and appeal, try and exploration, until the late1990s, the mental health education has a more comprehensive development. In1994, China formally published the documents which clearly pointed out the implementation of mental health education in elementary and secondary school for national wide. In August2002, China issued the "Guidelines for the mental health of primary and secondary education", which officially confirmed the status of mental health education in school education. In November2012, the Ministry of Education made a revision in the original "outline", issuing the "Guidelines for School Mental Health Education (2012Amendment)". In the new guideline, a guiding principles "full forward, focus, guidance, and coordination of development" was clearly proposed, and using it to guide the primary and secondary mental health education. The new outline proposed a direction for the development of primary and secondary mental health education, greatly encouraging and promoting the development of mental health education.Tianjin is one the earliest cities in China, which established the mental health education and relevant organizations to carry out the practice of mental health education activities. After the development in the past20years, the mental health education in Tianjin has achieved good results, but, there are still some deficiencies in practice. In order to understand the basic situation of school mental health education, and to explore the attitudes and needs of teachers towards mental health education, the study used the way of questionnaires and interviews, distributed questionnaires to600students in eight schools, had in-depth interviews with frontline mental health teachers in seven schools. The Survey showed that although mental health education started earlier in Tianjin, there remained imbalance between regions and schools in the process of development; the demand for mental health education gradually increased in teenagers, but bias still existed; the resource allocation for school psychology education centers enhanced constantly, meanwhile the utilization still needed improvement; there was great potential for school, social and family to cooperate in the process of maintaining adolescent mental health. The author hoped to provide a reasonable and feasible strategy for the improvement of adolescent mental health education in Tianjin, via this investigation.
