With the development of satellite TV and direct-to-home TV technology, international commercial TV organizations have turned their attention to Chinese market, aiming at producing and exporting popular documentaries to the world. For the time being, some foreign documentary channels have adopted a new strategy-localism to attract Chinese audience. Therefore, their programs have become the No. 1 choice for some of the home TV stations. With the debut of some oversea media and documentaries in the Chinese market, our national documentary production business is greatly impacted; on the one hand, Chinese way of living and thinking is being gradually influenced. What is more, our outlook on life and value are facing an unprecedented challenge, especially after China's entry into WTO. Standing before these crossings, a crucial question arises: which is the best way for Chinese mass media to strengthen national consciousness, produce our own documentaries with Chinese characteristics and improve the reliability of the documentaries? On the basis of these concerns, the author of this thesis put forward her own suggestions and recommendations.
