Expression is the exterior representation of emotions, the people always transfer information by expression in the daily life. And the facial expression is the important tool to express the emotion. In this study, we examined the characteristic that the youngest detected the angry faces by two examines. In 1st experiment, the research participants were thirty-four students at junior high school. We examined the efficiency of detecting angry faces, happy faces and neutral faces by means of a visual search. Participants searched displays of schematic faces and were required to determine whether the faces displayed were all the same or whether one was different. The results showed that: (1) When displays contained the same faces, children were slower in detecting the absence of a discrepant face when the faces displayed angry rather than happy expression. It shows that individual quickly responds to dangers. (2) When searching for discrepant face in otherwise identical faces, children were faster in detecting angry face than happy face. (3) The search slopes for angry targets were lower than for happy targets. These results suggest that the detection of the angry face and the detection of the happy face were serial search. In 2nd experiment, the research participants were thirty-four students at junior high school. Participants searched displays of schematic curve and were required to determine whether the curves displayed were all the same or whether one was different. The results showed that detecting the faces is based on detecting the holistic facial expressions. We considered that the characteristics of detecting angry expressions of youngest aged between 13 and 15 years is same with the adults. It is useful to us to learn the youngest that response to different facial expressions. And teachers can develop the effect of emotion on education.
