Emotion and attitude is one of the most central and common aspects of human experience. "Happy" and "unhappy" is a set of relative emotions in emotional system. Expressing emotion is the main function of language. Based on the own characters of Chinese culture and modern Chinese, "happy,unhappy", the expression of the emotional category has its own system in various ways. As one of the ways of language and cultural transmission, foreign student oriented Chinese teaching must know the characters of this emotional category on expression's way. So it will be better for services for the spread of Chinese language an Chinese culture. This is the starting point for research of my paper.This thesis is divided into five chapters:ChapterⅠis a introduction to explain the signification of this topic paper and has introduced the relevant research of "happy and unhappy". ChapterⅡhas combed the relevant vocabulary of the expression "happy and unhappy", and has arranged and classified the static "happy and unhappy" kind words in dictionary. At the same time, this chapter has analyzed and explicated the "happy and unhappy" kind words which are the language reality vocabulary in text level. Though the comparison, we can see in the text level "happy, unhappy" kind words are dynamic and more diverse. ChapterⅢhas researched expression of "happy" and "unhappy" from the sentence perspective. It has analyzed the ability of "happy, unhappy" kind words to act as a sentence element and the influence of different patterns and classes of sentence for the "happy, unhappy" expression. Based on the analysis of sentence patterns, I summarized some common sentence structures of the "happy, unhappy" expression. Through the analysis of sentence patterns, sentence structures and sentence classes, we have further known that the expression of "happy, unhappy" in the sentence level both follow certain grammatical rules and pragmatic rules. ChapterⅣhas discused "happy, unhappy" expression from the perspective of rhetoric. In order to achieve certain communicative effects, emotional expression will also use some exceeded conventional ways. Although some special ways of expression are the deviations from normal, but these deviations are also rule-based. Chapter V analyzes the relationship between "happy, unhappy" expression and Chinese teaching as a foreign language. I respectively investigated the vocabulary and sentence structures in "International Curriculum for Chinese language Education" and Chinese textbook corpus, and then comparatively analyzed the quantitative data obtained from the three of modern Chinese, "Curriculum", Chinese textbook corpus. According to the results of the analysis, the last section of this paper puts forward four points teaching suggestions about "happy, unhappy" expression.
