From the aspect of context, this dissertation puts forward 5 markers, including separately demonstrative marker, combinatorial demonstrative marker, extrapolated marker, preceding echoed marker and preceding demonstrative marker, to separate the preposition function and the connection function of He, Tong, Gen and Yu, the four He class form word. Based on the analysis of corpus, the dissertation studies the distribution of the 4 He class form word in Chinese mandarin, and explores the different usages of the 4 words in written style and in colloquial style. And the dissertation classifies 5 meanings of the 4 words when they are used as prepositions. The 5 meanings are: taking actions with others, introducing the accepter of the action, introducing the other obligatory party of completion the action or the meaning, being relational or unrelated with something or somebody, introducing the comparing object. According to the entire observation of the predicates and headwords co acting with the 4 words, the dissertation explores the different orientations of the 4 words when they take the 5 meanings. This dissertation also studies the complementary distribution of the connective He and the connective Yu, in the number of paratactic parts, especial construction, and the phonetic requirements, etc.Based on all the studies, this dissertation makes a conclusion. That is the 4 He class form word present an evident complementary distribution in Chinese mandarin. Furthermore, the dissertation tries to find the reason, why the classical Chinese word Yu is well used in modern Chinese.
