On October 18,1933, Shen Congwen touched off a "Jing-Hai" dispute in the history of modern literature, which, as a literary phenomenon, did not form a conscious group of style at that time and, in more meaning, denoted a loose crowd composed of some teachers and students of the universities staying in Beiping in 1930s, who had near interest and flaunted the purely free life ideals. After more than 70 years' vicissitudes, the JingPai and HaiPaihave become the pronouns of certain literary phenomena, which have exceeded the pure description of the then phenomena and have some kind of tactics nature. For example, Wu Fuhui called such phenomena as transshipping foreign cultures as much as possible HaiPai and highly evaluated HaiPai . In such circumstances, the theoretical probe and creation practice of JingPai are not an out-of-date subject of talk, and their mentality toward the Chinese and Western cultures is all the more not an out-of-date subject of talk. While JingPai is gradually understood by the people, a hysteresis phenomenon is made prominent. Broadly speaking, absence of confirmation of the female writers of JingPai made the literary creation of Ling Shuhua and Lin Huiyin lack the creation tradition of the female of the May 4th Movement. In narrow sense, the achievements of Ling Shuhua and Lin Huiyin were quoted by the critics mainly as the confirmation and supplementation for other writers of Beijing style. The difference in perspective of the two female writers from other writers of Beijing style and their mainbody feelings were often hidden and not obvious in JingPai . Moreover, to date, there are still different sounds in the comments on them. This article tries to expound the above several questions one by one and discuss the two female writers separately in the space about JingPai . These contents are rarely seen in the materials collected by me in the recent 3 years, and this is the reason why I name my thesis "Modest Proposal".
