THIS thesis is meant to explain the special outlook of Chinese Modernism under certain history of China out of the view of modern times. As far as the difference between Western Modernism, Chinese Modernism undoubted has provided us with a new shape of Modernism. It is likely that the latter couldn't even imagine the complexity of the history that it has encountered in China. How to assess the difference? How to find a reasonable explanation of Chinese Modernism? These are the main topic of this thesis.Modernism is the answer to modernity by means of literature. Although the narration of modernity and its taste have the same origin, somehow, modernistic taste is tending to be a doubt of the progress of reasoning of modernity. Modernism is susceptible to in favor of one-vision of taste only. Chinese Modernism is growing up under the influence of western one, we have to admit this. However, it doesn't mean that Chinese Modernism is the mimic of its western counterpart. On the contrary, its existence has its local origin, which is the right way to think about this problem. The surrounding of Chinese Modernism and its western counterpart are totally different from each other: China was in her pre-modern times of going after modernization; there's no belief crisis like what happened in 20~th century's western society; although new culture campaign has greatly given tradition impact, Chinese have been influenced and governed by Ru-traditional idea system, people thought very little about human being's existence, which somehow restricted the development of modernism culture in China objectively. However, no matter what, Modernism has found its room in China and has become another existence other than Realism and Romanticism. What's more, when facing outer influence, Chinese Modernism presented us with a strong posture of initiative choice. This is not only because it has to face the problem of how to exist in the reality, but also because it took part in the history of chasing modernity by means of literature imagination and thus, it concerns about the way it constructs itself naturally. The main elements influencing initiative choice are conditions, ideas of subjects, culture tradition and the psychology of recipients and so on. The initiative choice not only madeChinese Modernism special outlook, which revealed the complexity of Chinese Modernity , it but also rebuilt an imagined home in the field of ideology. This is the worthiest part of Chinese Modernism. In other words, Chinese Modernism has also the most inner idea motive when going after the form, which is another important field of its self-construction. And finally, all these will fall back on form. Therefore, the concern on modality poetry will be the last point to be close to Chinese Modernism.
