Jiao Hong Study

Jiao Hong belongs to one of those who are worthy to be researched from comprehenisive respects among the writers in the late Ming Dynasty. Records about all his life and family were different in historic books and literary sketches. It was recorded that the hometown of Jiao Hong was RiZhao of ShanDong province. One of Jiao Hong's ancestors was awarded hereditary military status by Zhu Yuanzhang. Then his family settled down in Nan Jing. Jiao Hong's father was Jiao Wenjie who had four sons. The first was Jiao Rui ,the scond Jiao Jing, the third Jiao Hong, and the fourth Jiao Xi. Jiao Hong was born in 1540 and died in 1619. He had two wives,four daughters and three sons. The first son was Jiao Zunsheng, the second Jiao Zhou(also named Jiao Langsheng),and the third Jiao Runsheng.Jiao Hong had many teachers.The Taizhou school scholar and educator Geng Dingxiang was the most important. He had found a superior of Jiao Hong's ability.and lead him to the field of Wang Yangming's theory which led his tearing to a broader field. The influence made by Geng Dingxiang focuseson three point: Confucian, Wang Yangming'theory, and tropism of life value.In all his abroad see life ,the most famous were thinker LiZhi and Gong An genre.He especially admired LiZhi's theory,and tried his best to spred it . Yuan Zongdao and his two borthers regard Jiao Hong as teacher,from whom they learnd Wang Yangming's theory. From then on they kept on being against acienism and insisted the opinion of advocaty natural disposition and intelligence. He and Gong An genre's two members Huang Hui and Tao Wangling were good fridens. They learned from each other discussed Taoism and wrote and artides poems.His literary opinion include self-awareness and colong conception. Histoy of Ming Dynasty appraised his prose to elegant, fluent and outstanding. Author of Jin Ling series said that the style of his proses inherited Fang Xiaoru and Song Lian of early frist Ming Dynasty ,while his achienements no less than those scholar such as Tang Jingchuan and Yang Shengan. The content of his poms concentrate on the rurality ,which is similar to Tao Yuanming and Wei Zhuang,while the verve is naturad and smooth just like the style of Wan Wei and Meng Haoran. He had altogether four essay books,in which we can read Jiao shi bi cheng, Jiao shi lei lin ,yu tang cong yu, but Ming shi shuo had dissipate. The essays that described the simages of his time were especially wonderful.
