And the capital city plays an important role in a country's development. There have been many factors which affect the location site of the capital city. Ecological factor, safety factor, economic factor and cultural identification factor are the mainly four factors to decide where the capital city should be located. This thesis gives an all-sided analysis on the rule of location site of capital cities according to China and foreign countries' examples. It gives explanation about how the four factors work on capital city's vicissitude during the long history of human civilization development. It gives a very detailed analysis on vicissitude of China capital city. Finally after these facts a conclusion is made that the location site of national capital was at first mostly affected by ecological factors, then by safety factors and economic factors, finally an integrated national country's capital location decided strongly by cultural identification. That means: The city best embodies the national spirit is mostly suitable to be taken as a country's capital. Through the study on vicissitude of national capital, we can also grasp the possibility of capital vicissitude in the future. To enhance the persuasion power of the author's view, the thesis makes an example of national capital change about Brazil. Rio de Janeiro was the capital of Brazil before the Second World War. While after the war the Brazil government made decision to move the national capital to inner land of Brazil so as to avoid the boring situation Rio de Janeiro faced as a capital city and develop poor area through locating capital there. But weather the movement to the new capital city named Brasilia successful or not is still under debate. The South Korea government planned to move its national capital from the traditional capital Seoul to a new territory and build a new city as its new capital just like Brazil did. But unfortunately the plan negated by Korean constitution court. The main resistance on Korean capital movement is the cultural identification on Seoul which has been the capital for so many years. Through analysis about all these examples chosen from China history and foreign countries, we can make a conclusion that as a modern country which has long history, its capital must be located at a city which most intensively evokes the people's cultural identification. As to nowaday China, a country holds so large area of land and so long and complex history of ethnologic amalgamation, the mostly appropriate national capital should be located at Peking rather than other cities because Peking acted as the capital city so long time when nomads of north area of China came into power of the whole China Country. So Peking's role as an integrated China's national capital will not be changed in the near future. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | national capital, location choice, vicissitude, cultural identification, ethnologic amalgamation | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
