Tense And Aspect System Of Pingyao, Shanxi Dialects

The paper mainly studied the tense and aspect system of Pingyao dialect in Shanxi Province. With the methodology of semantic-functional grammar, the grammatical methods, by which the aspects and tenses of Pingyao dialect are demonstrated, are described and studied in detail. The aspect system and tense system are generalized on the base of facts. Meanwhile, some grammaticalization and pragmatic explanations are given to some phenomena.Chapter 1 is the introduction to the paper. First, it gives an simple introduction to Pingyao and Pingyao dialect. Then sums up the studing results about the tense and aspect of contemporary Chinese to discuss the basic and factual concepts of them in Chinese.Chapter 2 is about the aspect system of Pingyao dialect. In the course of describing, some usages of aspect auxiliaries are compared with those in other dialects. Both synchronic and diachronic ways of research are used here.Chapter 3 is about the tense system of Pingyao dialect. First, the tense categories are analyzed as: prehodiernal, post-hodiernal and hodiernal. Then the methods by which they are demonstrated are described detailedly.Chapter 4 is the concluding remarks. It summaries the whole paper and points out the expected value of the paper.
