"Chekhov and Stanislavsky" is a phenomenon which has historical significance in both drama and the art of theatre. Among the questions on the study of it, comedy has been turning an important respect. In Chekhov's works, the characteristic of comedy often seems like farce. But by the abnormal behavior of the roles, the isolation of people is expressed. So the plays reflect the spirit of modern idea. When Stanislavsky tried to show them, he chose the way to act realistically. His famous System, which brings to the theatre of the 20th century profound and lasting influence, reflects the trend of realism or naturism. The contraction between the director's trend in art and the author's intention to make the works humor is so unusual that it can be looked as an opportune angle to research the two artists. This is the opinion of the text. At the same time, this is a suitable way to understand the development of the art of theatre in the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20 century. The age is known as the period of modernized changing happened in both play writing and theatre production. "Chekhov and Stanislavsky" may be understood as an appearance of it.
