Study Of Symmetry And Asymmetry Of The Modern Chinese Antonyms

Current Chinese antonym is one of the most complex glossary category in Chinese glossary system. What people see is not just only the one-to-one combination, but an anfractuous antonym net. In the thesis hereafter, we suppose this anfractuous antonym net, and arrange three kind of "stream of net" from easy to complicated, and advocate enacting the best antonym combination for the complex antonym aggregation. Under the psychological guide of "beauty of symmetry", we "suppose the symmetry" for these best antonym combination and discuss two kinds of representation in detail for these best: Antonymous compound and Duiju , and analysis the behave of symmetry in composing new words. After the oral research of foreign students, we found that they can use the Symmetry analogy strategy to help them for memory and promote their study efficiently. But using the Symmetry analogy strategy without consideration may cause some disturb and misplay. We think the main reason of these is caused by the asymmetry of antonym. As the main point of this thesis, we discuss the reason of grammar, semantic and pragmatics which cause the asymmetry of antonym from three aspect in detail: the defect of change in the word, sentence and the express way chosen of opposite meaning and the compensate mechanism after the symmetry defect.
