This article tries to discuss the possibility and feasibility to promote the foreign students' interests in Chinese listening classroom of the primary stage by using the methodology of Formative Assessment.This research is based on the theory and the methodologies of Action Research. There are totally tow sub-researches. The first one trys to promote students' interests by classroom-matches and classroom-games, while the second one by using the methodologies of Formative Assessment.According to the steps and methods of Action Research, the procedure is showing below:1. Define problem. There are three ways to collect information: teacher interview, student interview and questionnaire.2. Analysis the cause of the problem. There are tow ways to collect information: teacher interview and self-reflection.3. Look for the method to solve the problem. Teacher interview and self-reflection are mainly used to collect information.4. The first research. Try to use classroom-matches and classroom-games to promote students interests in listening classroom. It was successful in the beginning, but the students lost interests quickly later.5. Look for new method. Trough the theory learning and discussion, we try to find a new way to solve the problem.6. The second research. We try to promote students' learning motivation and interests by using the methodology of Formative Assessment in classroom.7. Result analysis.8. Reflection.Based on the results of the tow examinations, we find that the classroom-matches are good for regulating classroom atmosphere and promoting learning positivity in a short term. But it can only be used occasionally for adult students.Formative Assessment matches with adult's learning behavior, making the students join into the assessment, concern their learning progress by period-reflection, and can achieve the objective of motivating students' learning interests ultimately. It also helps the lecture to get the students' feeling and to improve the classroom atmosphere, gives the students and teachers more chance to inter-communicate after class. This is why the Formative Assessment could promote students' interests in listening class.It also shows that the mythologies of Action Research should be an efficient way for language classroom research.
