Self-enhancement is the tendency to view oneself in overly positive terms. A long time, Conclusion has not yet formed about weather Chinese people have the self-enhancement motivation? Why do people have self-enhancement motivation? Whether Self-enhancement is adaptive? Based on consideration of these issues, this study selected 333 university students in Xi'an ,studied two forms of self-enhancement: self-perception preference and self-serving bias attribution, and studied the relationship between self-enhancement with self-worth and risk behavior, Aim to explore the characteristics and reason of self-enhancement, and to explore the internal mechanism between self-enhancement with self-worth and risk behaviors, to enriching the theoretical and empirical research about self-enhancement.The research findings show:(1) Interpersonal positive personality traits of college students had self-enhancement preference; interpersonal personality traits' self-enhancement preference was significantly higher than the capacity personality traits' preference; positive personality traits' self-enhancement preference was significantly higher than the negative personality traits' preference. To attribution preference, in the conditions in which participants were asked to speculate the attribute pattern of her/his self and other people like his/her parent or friends or stranger on their own success and failure, there existed strong self-enhancement preference in successful thing; there was no was significant difference between speculating self attribution preference and speculating parent attribution preference and speculating friend attribution preference, while the three attribution preferences were all significantly higher than the speculating stranger attribution preference.(2) Interpersonal negative personality traits' self-enhancement preference and speculating self attribution preference was significantly positively correlated with violence behaviors, speculating friend attribution preference was significantly negatively correlated with violence behaviors, speculating stranger attribution preference was significantly negatively correlated with leaving home and suicide behaviors.(3) Interpersonal negative personality traits' self-enhancement preference and speculating self attribution preference significantly positively predicted violence behaviors, speculating friend attribution preference significantly negatively predicted violence behaviors, speculating stranger attribution preference significantly negatively predicted leaving home and suicide behaviors.(4)Generally speaking, college students' self-enhancement was positively related to self-worth, and self-enhancement positively predicted self-worth.(5)Generally speaking, college students' self-enhancement was negatively related to risk behaviors, and self-enhancement negatively predicted risk behaviors.(6)Interpersonal negative personality traits' self-enhancement preference and self-serving bias attribution had direct effect on violence behaviors, and also had an indirect effect on violence behavior mediating by individual-oriented physiological special self-worth and social-oriented moral special self-worth. Speculating stranger' attribution preference had direct effect on leaving home and suicide behaviors; and also had an indirect effect on leaving home and suicide behaviors mediating by global self-worth, social-oriented general self-worth, individual-oriented interpersonal special self-worth , individual-oriented physiological special self-worth and social-oriented physiological special self-worth.
