'shì' 'duì' 'xíng' 'hǎo' as responsive words are used very common and frequently in daily life. But the material context in which they appear and the relationship among them are still unknown. This dissertation discusses the discourse functions of 'shì' 'duì' 'xíng' 'hǎo' and pragmatics differences among them, in order to show the four words' meaning in communication. And discourse analysis and pragmatics are as our basic frame in theory. The First Chapter is the introduction, including research area, general situation of this area, research aim and meaning, explanation of sentences. From the Second Chapter to the Fifth Chapter, we observe the discourse functions of 'shì' 'duì' 'xíng' 'hǎo'. And research the co-occurrence between the four words and some of 'a' 'ba' 'de' 'le' 'ma'. We also discuss the superposition of these four words, and the functional differences between the superposition and single one. The judgment of the discourse function of 'shì' 'duì' 'xíng' 'hǎo' depends on material context. But the model words and superposition used as form markers can help distinguish different functions.Chapter 6 observes the commonness and differences inside. 'shì' 'duì' 'xíng' 'hǎo' have the same function — agreement and discourse cohesion which are the basic function of responsive words. 'shì' 'duì' and 'xíng' 'hǎo' are in complementary distributing, but they're not subsets which are completely parallelism and parataxis. They have something in common. All the above characters make the four words coexist and compete.Chapter 7 sums up and summarizes the whole dissertation, point out the deficiency of the text. Finally, point out the research direction later.
