Symphony music is the highest level and form of the western music, as well as the unique titbit of cultural legacy in world music. Therefore, as the highest form of music art, symphony music plays crucial role in accelerating the development of human culture, and improving the level of social culture. Vice-Premier of the State Council Li Lanqing once indicated: symphony music education should aim at all five million university students of our country. This is a very important decision-making. University students are the main force of China' s future development, thereby improving the cultural quality of the university students is an important stratagem of our country. In the mean time, students with higher educational backgrounds are easier to accept and understand music works that have deep senses. Symphony music education aiming at university students, as the forerunner of popularizing symphony music in China, will produce profound influence on the popularization and development of symphony music in China. This dissertation, take the viewpoint of " Thoughts on some issues of symphony music appreciation lessons in general higher academies " as main research subject, emphasize the necessity of popularizing and generalizing symphony music in general higher academies. Meanwhile, take those colleges that have symphony music appreciation lessons presently for example, combined with demonstration and analysis, trying to put forward some useful suggestions and ideas of my own, to make my piece of effort on symphony music teaching in general higher academiesThe whole paper consists of three parts: preface, body and conclusion. Preface defined the intent, direction, meaning and approach of this research subject briefly. Body is divided into three parts: the first elaborated the necessity of popularizing symphony music appreciation lessons in general higher academies; the second elaborated current status of symphony music appreciation lessons in general higher academies of our country; the third put forward some thoughts and ideas of generalizing and popularizing symphony music appreciation lessons in general higher academies. The writer' s methods of research are: literature, field investigation and analysis. The constructive suggestion of this paper is: treating symphony music appreciation lessons in general higher academies from the perspective of music communication.
