The Chinese tone is one of the most difficult parts for foreign students in learning Chinese pronunciation, and this paper will focus on the error analysis concerning the tones of Chinese disyllables. An investigation has been made about the tones of Chinese disyllables among the Japanese students. Based on the analysis of the results of this investigation, this paper concludes the main types and characteristics of the error in pronouncing the tones of Chinese disyllables among the Japanese students. Then it explains the causes for the error made by the Japanese students from several aspects. Besides it also puts forward a few methods that can be directly used in the classroom for Chinese tone teaching as well as designs a series of exercises especially for the Japanese students.
