Zhou Libo's "storm" And Ki Yong Lee "land" Is A Comparative Study

The essay is a comparative research thesis about two saga novels, Torrential Rain and Storm Wind, and The Land by two famous novelist of the present age, Zhou Libo and Li Jiyong from China and Korea. Although the two authors live in two different countries, both of the two novels describe the land reformation movement in the period of the society revolution.The two authors have a lot of similarities in birth age, the society background of each life, literature value and writing methods. Zhou Libo(1908-—1979) and Li Jiyong(1895-—1984) both pursue utilitarianism in literature writing. Both of them pay much attention to their own experience and build up their correct world value and produce works according to the realism of the socialism. So it is very likely for us to do comparative researches on the two authors.From the research history of Zhou Libo and Li Jiyong from the works and authors, we can find out that there are a lot of achievements about their individual research, but few about their comparative research which is at the beginning. Therefore, based on the research achievement of previous people, about the literature value, the thesis will so the comparative research on the two saga novels, Torrential Rain and Storm Wind, and The Land , and find out the differences, common grounds and reasons of the two works.The essay uses the comparative research methods of American school of thought. Parallel research initiated by American school of thought is to analyze or compare of two or more different culture backgrounds the literature phenomenon that do not have direct relationship, do some research on thee differences and similarities to deepen the understanding to researched object and sum up the rules and models of the literature. The theory premise of the parallel research is that there is common literature law in literatures of different countries, nations and ages. So the literature has the comparative nature.Based on the above parallel r(?)search theory, the thesis is divided into five parts.First Chapter:It describes the purpose, significance and the research methods of the thesis, and also conducts the comprehensive review on researches of previous people.Second Chapter consists of three sections.The first section mainly introduces the life experience of the twoauthors. Because their literature attach much importance on the life experience, which is an important characteristics of the two authors' literature value.Zhou Libo experienced the army life by means of taking part in the anti-Japanese war at his early ages. Especially the land reformation experience in northeast in 1946 provides important materials for author's later literature writing.Li Jiyong always lived in the poor environment when he was young. Therefore he experienced the tramp life and the life condition of poor peasants, which became the important fodder for his literature writing.According to the hint of the previous part, the second section analyses the literature of the two authors and the writing methods of socialism realism.Based on the previous two parts, the third section illuminates the age background and literature policy of the two countries about the two saga novels, Torrential Rain and Storm Wind, and The Land .The third Chapter is made up of four sections.Through explaining all kinds of character in two novels, we will know more about how literature values f two authors are used in the two novels. Both of two novels depict images of advanced farmers, leading cadre of the party, inverse persons, typical peasants before 1949. All make the novels colorful. The essay will find out the differences and similarities of the people character of the same kind from the two novels and also the reason of them.The fourth Chapter is divided into three sections.Through the principle of literature dialectic, I will do comparative research on the two novels. Both of them use the technique of "the form manifesting the content", make the character characteristic of depicted object through the technique of foil and manage the plot arrangement technique of "breaking" and " connecting" to make the novel more interesting. Besides, they manage to analyze through those principles of literature dialectic and from them find out the differences of the two novels. The thesis will still describe their reasons.The fifth Chapter will summarize the content of the previous four chapters and explain the differences and similarities of the two novels in several aspects and also illuminate the reasons.
