Changsha Kiln was found in 1950s,co-unearthed by Hunan Museum and Culture-relics Working-group of Changsha. A lot of under-glazed porcelain was excavated, as well as some kiln tools. Most of them are kettles, jars, bowls, dishes wax-holders and foreigner figures, animal figures and so on.The Kiln site is situated around Lake shizhu in Wangchen county of the city of Changsha. Changsha Kiln sprang up after armed-rebellion of An-Shi and developed at the height of power and splendour in the mid-late Tang Dynasty. Changsha Kiln mainly bakes multi-color underglaze porcelain and vessels with applied and printed floral decoration, Its decorative art not only embodies the features of Chinese paintings, calligraphy, waxresist dyeing technique and sculpture but also absorbs features of localty in central Asia,West Asia and some decorative art styles of Islam and Buddhism to form a unique feature of Changsha Kiln color porcelain. It is one of the Milestones of Chinese porcelain development.Changsha Kiln is a famous export porcelain kiln in Tang Dynasty.It has been estimated that porcelain of Changsha Kiln has been excavated in 11 provinces in China and 13 countries abroad. It became a pottery-porcelain bright and colorful flower of culture exchange between China and Other countries in the 9th century.The copper-red glaze and under-glaze techniques make a landmark significance. It changed the status that green porcelain was made in the south and white in the north. Chinese porcelain-baking came into a new brilliant multi-color era since then.
