People regulate their emotion or affect all the time. The regulating plays an important role in daily life.Kuhl developed the Personality Systems Interactions Theory, which focus on the intuitive affect regulation. According to his opinion, under stressful conditions, action-oriented individuals, who are good at intuitive affect regulation, mobilize central executive systems and engage in implicit down-regulation of negative affect. To the extent that this down-regulation is successful, action-oriented individuals will display mood improvement and facilitated self-regulation under stressful conditions, and have good performance in the cognition task. By contrast, state-oriented individuals, who are lack of intuitive affect regulation skills, under stressful conditions either refrain from affect regulation or engage in relatively ineffective forms of affect regulation. Consequently, state-oriented individuals will respond to stressful conditions with persistent negative affect, negative rumination, and inhibited self-regulation, and cognition performance. And the intuitive affect regulation can play its role consciously and un consciously.Based on these theory, we mean to discuss the role of Intuitive affect regulation on both conscious on unconscious leval. In the unconscious affect regulation experiment, we used the parafoveal priming paradigm which was used by Jostmann. As a result, we did not find the priming effect. But, instead, the people with different intuitive affect regulation skills showed difference in the basic emotion express. In the conscious emotion regulation experiment, we find the intuitive affect regulation plays its role as it was described on basic emotion. But the influence to memory cognitive task depends on the difficulties of the tasks. Also, some of our results did not follow the original ones, which may need some further research to make them sure.
