The thesis is divided into three stages taking time as the meridian: Brew and Lay a Foundation (1901-1949), Establish and Turbulence (1950-1979), Boom and Fall after a Rise (1980-2000). To draw a brief outline of "Research of LiYu's daram theory" according to time clue at first, and then take the study on special subject as weft, to criticize, comment and prospect some aspects of Research of LiYu's drama theory in 20th century, such as, the research on creating theory, the research on aesthetics of traditional Chinese opera, the research on system of drama theory, comparative research , research approach and angle and international influence, etc. Pondering over characters and questions actively, offering a doubting, studying carefully and asking the reason, and also trying to do some arrangement of the catalogue of research treatise.
