The disyllabification is an important rule in development of Chinese vocanbulary. But the process of disyllabification has taken very long time and it's very complicated as well. The documents before Warring States shows that monosyllable words were the main features of Chinese.Through the development of Han and Tang D ynasty ,the disyllabic and polysyllabic words had been the main appearance of ancient Chinese vocabulary.The thesis by analyzing the way of word-building of DongJieYuanXi XiangJi ,which is belong to Jin Dynasty is in order to realize the characateritic of Chinese vocabulary in this period.At the same time ,the thesis may do a favor to research on the whole Chinese vocabulary history.The thesis can be divided into four parts.The first part will introduce three problems.They are "the history of Chinese disyllabic and polysyllabic words and on the research of disyllabic and polysyllabic words by the contemporaries sages", "the materials concerned with the thesis and the way to research the thesis", "the standard to determine a disyllabic and polysyllabic words and the sum of the words in the book".The second part is about the pronunciation constitute.This part will discuss the sum and the forms of reduplications and non-reduplications. Of course ,at the end of this part ,we'll compare the DongXiXiang with BianWen and make some conclutions.The third part is about grammal constitute forms,which include subordinate compounds, coordinative compounds,verb-object compounds, subject-predicate compounds, affixations. The thesis will count the sum of the disyllabic and polysyllabic words in each construction mode and the percentage of every sort of the disyllabic polysyllabic words to the whole disyllabic and polysyllabic words in the book .In each part will compare the DongXiXiang with BianWen and make some conclutions.The last part is the conclution to the whole thesis.we will dicover the imbanlance of each way of word-building and know about the characteristic of vocabulary in DongXiXiang on the whole.
