From The "performance Art" To "performance Photography"

As one of the contemporary arts sprung up in Europe in the 50s or 60s of the 20th century, Performance art, underling the performance process of the artists, is a typical art form featuring its performance. This article, starting from a contemporary point, first dissects what is Performance art and underlies its significance in aesthetics. Based upon such, it then reflects on the essence of contemporary arts and presents three questions hereunder. Why did Performance art rise in the western culture. After Modern art is the ofspring of information period. It rushed from social and cultural conflict of After Industry period and developed from the validity of negating Modern art. As a representative form of After Modem art, Installation overthrew and collapsed traditional Easel Art's emphases radically, that is, literature, description, visualization and "emotional expression" from deep soul. At the same time, it oppugned on trueness which was pursued by Easel Art. Installation came into art field as Dada's "ready object" and tried to find out real "trueness" in practice...
