Contemporary Art In The Fiber Material

With the change of concept of art, fiber is used not only as the material of handcraft, but also as the basic element of art working—the material. Especially in contemporary art, fiber is presented in many different ways and has lots of meanings, this gives people the new feeling of art. Fiber is separated from traditional concept of handcraft, and become an essential element of contemporary art. In China, the research of material language is in the primary stage, and we are also lack of systemic research of the possibility of fiber as material.This article tries to consider fiber as a symbol of art, and give further research to the multiple attributes of fiber like its distinct attribute as material, its function of communication, its value of humanity and the metaphor beneath and the relationship between fiber and contemporary. Consider all these above, a general and deep research of fiber material is made. With the exploration of fiber material, we can also give example of research for other materials.
