What this article relates to is that Lan-xi Tao-lung , a great monk of Linji in South Song Dynasty, traveled to Japan for disseminating Zen (Chan-school) there, bringing tremendous influence on Japanese culture. South Song period, situation turbulence uneasy, in order to avoid to the war Lan-xi Tao-lung traveled to Japan, spreaded Zen Japan for 33 years. Being the first monk who spread Chinese Zen Buddhism in Japan , His preach in Japan helped the establishment of Japanese Zen culture and the formation of Japanese Zen Buddhism, accelerated the spread of the reason learns in Japan. The author thinks, in view of the angle of the religion and the cultural history, Lan-xi Tao-lung's influence toward Japan lies in it more cultural meaning. So this article emphasizes the analysis and summary of ideology and cultural significance of Lan-xi Tao-lung traveled to Japan to spreads Zen Buddhism. His spreading Zen Buddhism in Japan influence the traditional culture of Japan deeply. Being a emissary of cultural exchange between China and Japan, Lan-xi Tao-lung made a remarkable contribution to the cultural exchange between China and Japan.
