The research object of this essay is the writings which were wroted and translated by scholars in Zhejiang, printed and published during 1821 and 1911.According to a great deal of materials and documents such as regional chronicles and catalogues which were published since Qing Dynasty,combining definite research and quantity-statistics,observing the changes on quantity and content of various sorts of writings during each period,we could get practical and certificated cognition about the historical fact that how the Traditional Learning declined and transferred,and how the Modern Learning bom and grew in Zhejiang in the late period of Qing Dynasty.Furtherly,we could be clear about the historical vessels that Learning transferred from tradition to modern.The first chapter introduces the general conditions of Learning's development in Qing Dynasty in Zhejiang.The second chapter discusses the transform happened and efforts make on the Ancient Qassics .the New Classics of Confucianism and Neo-conficianism (including the Cheng-Zhu's Confucian School and Lu-Wang's Mind Theories) during the weak trendency of Traditional Learning.The third chapter discourses on the scholars' enthusiastic on translating foreign works,these activities lay a foundation of Modern Learning's birth in Zhejiang,In the end of Qing Dynasty,new intellectuals make creation in different kinds of subjects.With the rising of New Learning,the modern Learning became its embryonic form.
