As the traditional means for the right to survive,the rice riots are repeated on dynasties.In the background of the order rebuilding on modern social,the rice riots has emerged a new element and meaning.After 1898,due to the deterioration of the economic and the frequent occurrence of flood and drought disasters,the unwashed life of Zhejiang province has been extremely deteriorating.In order to survive,they continue to grab rice.so the rice riots has been form in Zhejiang province in the late Qing,This paper attempts to make a systematic study on the social history background of rice riots,the general circumstances,the Coping mechanism of government and society and the social and historical influence of the rice riots in Zhejiang province in the late Qing.Since the Qing Dynasty,due to geographical environment and economic structure,Zhejiang province's rice grain self-sufficiency,to a large extent dependent on the supply of provinces and the official's food swap.To the end of the Qing Dynasty,due to the decline in agricultural production,warehousing system corruption and heavy taxes,exacerbated the food crisis in Zhejiang province.The the rice riots has been outbreaks.In this paper,based on the time and space distribution,the identity of participants and victim of the rice riots in Zhejiang province in the late Qing,summarized the general characteristics of the rice riots.In the face of constant threat to the rule of power to rice riots,the government of Zhejiang province have to deal with it.The government's response includes the handling of the immediate outbreak of the rice riots,as well as the precautionary and preventive measures taken afterwards.Because of lack of money,official corruption,Vested interests refuse to cooperate,and the social disorder,the government's response did not effectively curb the wave of the rice riots,but to make it intensified.After study on the basic situation of rice riots in Zhejiang province in the late Qing.This article try to take a certain case of Hangzhou rice riots in May 1911 to further research the background,the logic of the action and the difficulties of the government's response after the investigation of the rice riots.This article combines this case,and then analyze the social effect of rice riots in the late Qing is exacerbate the instability of social order in Zhejiang province,Weakening the government's ability to resist political turmoil,to create the political conditions for the the Revolution of 1911 of Zhejiang province and the recovery of Hangzhou.
