Cyber literature is a kind of literature form, which uses Internet as its medium. This kind of transmission form is a new innovation and it is bound to bring an utter change to the form of expression.Compared with traditional literature, cyber literature has some new features in the aspects of author psychology and the external expression form of literary works, due to the characteristic of network medium.According to the different media of literary works, literature can be divided into three stages: oral literature, paperbacked literature, and cyber literature. In the first stage, due to the lack of written letters, people's emotion could only be spread in oral language form. In the second stage, literature writing became a piece of professional work and was highly valued. After the start of modern publication system, the issue of literary works had to be examined by some ones, such as press compilers. As a result, only a small number of works could be issued for the sake of political propaganda or because of some private relationships. Thus, to some extent, literature became the tool of certain privilege, which conflicted with the nature of literature—expression freedom. Cyber literature is a literary form which is used by common people to express their emotional experience in the free space of Internet. The origination of cyber literature is the strong feeling of self-emotion expression. The creation of cyber works doesn't come from responsibility or announcement, and it just comes from the desire of individual emotional expression. In Kant's opinion, literary art was a kind of free game, and its purpose was to satisfy individual amusement. As a kind of spiritual activity, at the beginning period of literature development, literature was an impulse of judging of the beautiful. In this sense, it is cyber literature that makes literature return to its initial state, that is to say, makes writing a form of emotional expression or amusement. In the space of BBS, different writers just expressed their feelings freely, paying little attention to writing technique. Then many cyber writers took this writing style and produced great deal of works without leaving any names. The writers of cyber literary works are those common people, who undertake the heavy burden of life as well as the struggle of passion, and experience the joy and sorrow of life. It is cyber space that gives them a place to express their emotion and thus get freedom and spiritual liberation. This, in some sense, coincides with Kant's idea of literature. This feature of cyber literature inevitably causes some other features of it.The words of cyber literature mainly come from three aspects: technical terms, chatting-room language, and some English abbreviations, such as VIP. As a result, a lot of new words emerged online, for instance, MM means beautiful girls, and 7456 means very angry.Some cyber language expressions are like jargons, which are quite hard for newcomers and can identify them. Online, men call each other brothers, and as for women, they call each other sisters, with consideration of age difference, which makes every one become more intimate. At the present day, cyber language expressions are becoming a kind of unique language, which is influencing our daily expressions. With the utilization of modern technology, cyber literature is enriching itself. Long before, we thought literature couldn't separate from words, but now the tendency of this separation occurs. For example, cyber writers may utilize the multimedia of Internet to produce novels, which combine words, sounds, even videos together to realize the communication with readers.Since most cyber writers are young people, cyber literature shows some value concepts of them. In the book, The First Intimate Touch, some language can just show this.In some cyber literary works, some sentences are underlined. When these sentences are clicked, some different clues will go on. Thus, an article may have many different plots and endings, which can arouse readers' imagination fully. For example, in the book, Imagination Book 1999, Taiwan female author, Cao Zhilian used the technique of FLASH to present readers a vivid and colorful world.The development of cyber literature brings both positive and negative effects to literature development, and shows its value. Hence, based on the description of literature development due to the change of medium, the author hopes to research the change of cyber literature in its process of development. By pointing out the literary value of this new literature form, the author tries to explore the creation of cyber literature in theoretical basis.
