, edited by ZhangZhao who came from SheXian in early Qing Dynasty, is a collection of short stories in classical Chinese. As the start of YuChuTi, it shows some new appearances with regard to the content and style, which clearly reflects the features belonging to Qing Dynasty and also plays an important role both in philology and literature. The thesis can be divided into three parts. The first one explores the process in collecting the book. Firstly, the paper discusses the influence resulting from multiple cultural factors and uncovers the social climate that attaching great importance to individuality, peculiarity, trueness and emotion. Other factors also exert strong influence on it, for example, the unprecedented prosperity of compiling stories and the leaning of intellectuals' emotion in the background spanning from the end of Ming Dynasty to the beginning of Qing Dynasty. Secondly, by comparing and verifying carefully, I try to find out the differences between the novels gathered in and the original or other editions. At the same time the thesis attempts to analyze the alteration in it done by ZhangZhao in detail, generalizing his purpose in the course of compiling. In the end, comparing LuoXinTangShunZhangShijiaoben with other editions and differentiating carefully, can find out that the block-printed edition of LuoXingTangShunZhangShi is more approximate to the original than QingKangXi. Then I put all kinds of editions circulating in Qing Dynasty in order. The second part reveals that there are four subjects in , such as praising the fealty, exposing the tenebrous government; revealing the flavors possessed by the intellectual stratum, commending the sincere affection between the lovers; applauding the strange activities behaved by the anomalies, admiring their unique skills and promoting traditional morals; exaggerating the inevitability of comeuppance. Then I focus on the artistic characteristics in it, containing the style of literalness. detailed depiction, the overall arrangement and the creation of artistic conception. Based on ZhangChao's remarks manifested in preface and postscript, the third part further investigates the editor's criticism theory on story. Then I comment on two aspects of it comprehensively, respectively, the function of aesthetic appreciating and delighting, the function of educating and expostulating.
