The Relationship between Emotional Intelligence, Achievement Motive, Social performance and Mental Health for college Students Emotional intelligence has received wide attention for its fresh conception and unique function. More and more psychological researchers have conducted indepth research and discussion on its conception and function. In order to further understand the relationship between emotional intelligence, achievement motive, social performance and mental health for college students, this research has conducted the test on 596 college students with EIS,AMS which are frequently used and have high efficiency and credit.Also SPSS 14.0, the software for statistic, has been used for the data analysis. The results are as follows:1. There exists demographic difference in emotional intelligence of college students. The level of emotional intelligence has remarkable difference in different grades. For example, the level of senior is much higher than that of freshman, sophomore, and junior. Students who are commissaries in class have higher levels in emotional intelligence than those who are not. Boy and girl students have little difference on this level. The levels of students who are the only child in their families are higher than those who are not.2. The social performance of college students will be affected by some factors such as major, grade. That whether the student is the commissary in class or not and that whether he or she is the only child in his or her family will also have an impact on the social performance. Social performance of senior is greater than that of junior,sophomore and freshmen. Students who are commissaries in class do a more excellent job than those who are not. Boy and girl students have no evident difference in social performance. Social performance of students who are the only child in their families are greater than that of those who are not.3. Factors such as major, grade and gender will influence the scholastic achievement of college students. That whether the student is the commissary in class or not has no direct relation with his or her scholastic achievement. Also that whether the student is the only child in his or her family doesn't bear on the scholastic achievement. The freshmen do a more excellent job in scholastic achievement than sophomore,junior and senior. Students with various majors have different performance in scholastic achievement. Girl students do a better job than boy students in scholastic achievement.4. College students' emotional intelligence has positive correlation with their social performance and achievement motive and negative correlation with their mental health, but no direct link with scholastic achievement. Emotional intelligence of college students has predictive power over social performance and mental health, but not over scholastic achievement. Achievement motive of college students has direct correlation with social performance and mental health. |
