The reduplication in Chinese is an important grammar means that distribute extensively and use multifariously. It is one of the hot issues in modern Chinese language research.There are many results concerning the reduplication in dialectology. But we haven't seen so much research in Lingshou dialect. Lingshou county is located in Jin dialect area,more specifically, in a transitional area from Jin to mandarin.This thesis is based on an investigation of the reduplication of Lingshou dialect, including both its formulation and meanings in order to getting somewhere.This text is divided into six parts totally.Chapter one introduces the location of Nanying village and Lingshou county, dialect type, and the condition of reduplication (both mandarin and dialect ).Chapter two introduces the current research into the adjective reduplication. The dialect adjective words in Lingshou have 11 forms as follows: AA,AXX,AABB,XAA,XXAA,AYXX,AYAB,ABAB,A了个A,ABXX,XAXB. For grammatical meanings, some reduplications basically mean the change of quantity; meanwhile, some only incidental function such as visualization.Chapter three introduces the current research into the verbal reduplication. The dialect verbs in Lingshou have 9 forms as follows: AA,ABB,AABB,圪AA,XXAA,A圪BB,ABAB.As to their grammartical meanings, they mean"small in quality and fast in time". However , occasionally,they mean"long last and frequency".Chapter four introduces the current research into the reduplication of nouns.Compared with mandarin, they are not only rich in quantity and form ,but also complex in expression. Chapter five introduces the current research into the reduplication of adverbs,onomatopoeia,quantifiers and so on. Chapter six compares Lingshou dialect with mandarin and put forward the questions remaining to be resolved.
