The Ruokeng Dialect, lying on the border area of Gan Dialect and Hui Dialect , has distinctive characteristics. However up to now it hasn't been researched yet, so the research of this paper has important meaning. On the basis of field investigation, this paper firstly depicts and induces the phonetic system of the Ruokeng Dialect, and analyses the Phonological characteristics. Secondly it discusses two special phonetic phenomenon of the Ruokeng Dialect: the broken tone and the long vowel.The first subject depicts the broken tone of the Ruokeng Dialect, including the articulation characteristics, the tone distribution, the representation in connected speech, the development and evolvement. Further more according to the related research, this paper specifically discusses the definition of the broken tone, and its regional distribution, articulation characteristics , function, formation causes as well as development trend.The second subject depicts the long vowel of the Ruokeng Dialect, including the articulation characteristics and the origin in the Middle Ages,then specifically discusses the basic concept of the long vowel, and its regional distribution, particularity in the Ruokeng Dialect, formation causes as well as comparison with around dialects.
