Wu Fang Yuan Yin is the significant data for researching modern (17th century) phonetic. It added rhyme tables and published in 1673. The rhyme book is worthy for recognizing the northern phonetic at that time and the formation of Pu Tong Hua.There are 12 rhyme categories, 19 initial consonants in fact, and 5 tones apparently with entering-tone disappearing as the matter of fact in Wu Fang Yuan Yin. In order to make clear the its nature and phonological base, this thesis is trying to give a detailed explanation basing on dialect material, previous study. Recently nobody has investigated the hometown's phonetics system of Long Yao hua of Fan Tengfeng, the author of Wu Fang Yuan Yin, this thesis hopes to supply some valuable data.This thesis contains five chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the previous study of phonology of Wu Fang Yuan Yin and research method of this study in order to set research direction, key point and difficulty.Chapter 2 clarifies phonetics system of Long Yao hua. It introduces the geography and history of Long Yao, and lays out the matching table of initial consonant and vowel and homophones with the different phonetics of modern time and ancient time.Chapter 3 compares Long Yao hua and the phonology of Wu Fang Yuan Yin. Firstly,list the homophones. Through compare,it can acknowledge their phonetic relation, then provides powerful evidences for define the nature of Wu Fang Yuan Yin.Secondly,compares initial consonants and fmals.Finally,analyse the entering-tone problems in order to draw the conclusion that the ertering-tone had disappeared.Chapter 4 is conclusion. Summary of the research results of every above-mentioned chapter.
