The Adverb "simply" Multi-angle Inspection

This thesis takes modal adverb"jianzhi"as the target of research in modern Chinese. We make a thorough investigation of"jianzhi"by means of combining linguistic form with meaning, synchronic with diachronic, statistics with analysis, we probe into and analyze the semantic that"jianzhi"conveys, the syntactic expression the pragmatic function that"jianzhi"possesses; We also describe the course of grammaticalization based on the predecessors' research results.The whole thesis consists of five chapters besides the conclusion. The concrete contents are as the following:Chapter One is the preface, which introduces the purpose and meaning of the research, the train of thought and method of the research, and summarizes the state of predecessors' research and introduces the sources of corpus.From Chapter Two to Chapter Four, we thoroughly analyze the function and characteristics of"jianzhi"on semantics, syntax and pragmatics aspects from synchronic level.In Chapter Two, we describe the semantics of"jianzhi", summarizes the semantic background on semantics, obtain the higher and lower meaning; We conclude the semantic feature of"jianzhi"which are degree,subjectivity, commendatory through the semantic-feature analysis.Chapter Three mainly describes the syntactic features of X among"jianzhi+X"structure, the syntactic distribution and attribute of"jianzhi"and"jianzhi+X", describe the elements that accompany by"jianzhi"; We also discuss the syntactic distribution and function of the two especial patterns"jianzhile"and"jianzhishi"which are made of"jianzhi".Chapter Four, we investigate the distribution of sentence category, pattern and genre on"jianzhi", the collocating"jianzhi"with affirmative or negative sentences, then conducts quantitative analysis on these aspects. We summarize the function of highlighting the focus, subjective commenting and semantic progresses on"jianzhi".Chapter Five mainly researches the course of grammaticalization of"jian","zhi"and"jianzhi"from synchronic level, the course of grammaticalization of"jianzhi"is the key that we investigate in the chapter, meanwhile we explain the grammaticalized agent of"jianzhi", which are the change of the syntactic position, the semantics generalization, pragmatic restriction.The conclusion summarizes the whole thesis and points to the deficiencies of this thesis.
