It Industry, Software Engineer's Job Satisfaction Questionnaire Preparation And Career Anchor Types

The study into the job satisfaction and career anchor of software engineers in Information Technology is very helpful, to enhance the job satisfaction of software engineers in IT companies, and to stabilize software engineers' team. But, nowadays the scientific tool of scaling software engineers' job satisfaction is being lacked in our nation. In order to enhance the research of job satisfaction and career anchor of software engineer in IT industry in our nation, a scientific and practical Job Satisfaction Scale for software engineers is made up, and a modified Career Orientations Inventory in Chinese is made up, and each of the scales' Measurement traits has been tested.With the help of tutor and all my friends who are working in IT, in the prepared research, the preceding research and the formal research, about 400 software engineers in IT were sampled as the subjects. By the way of literature analyzing, interviewing and investigating, and with the use of some statistic methods such as Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Analysis of Variance et. The Job Satisfaction Questionnaire had good consistency reliability and the Cronbachαcoefficient is. 9251. The modified Career Orientations Inventory had good consistency reliability and the Cronbachαcoefficient is. 9207. Moreover, the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire for software engineers and the modified Career Orientations Inventory had good content-related validity, conceiver validity and criterion-related validity. The satisfaction level of the two facets of the job satisfaction (which are achievement feeling of job and fellow relationship) are on the upper middle level, while the other two facets of the job satisfaction are on the middle lever. The major career anchors of software engineers are Lifestyle Career Anchor, Pure Challenge Career Anchor, Entrepreneurial Creativity Career Anchor, Technical Function Career Anchor. The factors about the software engineers themselves such as gender, married condition, the educational level, the position which the software engineer takes, the size of the IT company, the character of the IT company, the years of been a software engineer, can affect the facets of job satisfaction and the facets of career orientations differently. The Path Analysis by The Structural Equation Model was calculated to identify the relationship of the four facets of the Job Satisfaction and the eight facets of the Career Orientations Inventory, the result is that Pure Challenge Career Anchor has an effect on the Achievement feeling of job, while the Autonomy/Independence Career Anchor, General Management Competence Career Anchor, Entrepreneurial Creativity Career Anchor, all of the three has an effect on the facet of the support from the boss.
