Career Anchor, proposed by E.H.Schein who is the professor from SloanManagement School of MIT, is the theory on career choice. Career anchor is the thingor belief that one will never give up on career choices under any circumstances. Pastresearch had shown that the congruence of career anchor and his(her) workingenvironment will have positive effect on work outcomes including high workperformance, satisfaction and low demission rate.Based on sellers of different product, this research takes career anchor and careercharacteristics of the selling as the independent variable and work satisfaction asdependent variable, uses research method of questionnaires and semi-structuralinterviews, tries to analyze 1) the characteristics of the career anchor of the sellers andthe traits of the distribution career; 2) the relationship of the satisfaction and thecongruence of career anchor and career characteristics; 3) the relationship of thesatisfaction and the congruence of career anchor and career characteristics on differentdimension; 4) the relationship of the satisfaction and the one with several careeranchors; 5) the difference of the congruence on the ones of different years of working;6) the difference of the distributions of the career anchors on two genders. We have a comparatively clear understanding on the relationship of the careeranchors of the sellers, the characteristics of selling and the work satisfaction. Andconclude as follows:1. The main career anchor of the sellers are pure challenge, autonomy andindependence and entrepreneurial creativity; the main trait of selling careerare challenging, independent, novel and unstable.2. The congruence of the career anchor and career characteristics will have asignificant effect on work satisfaction: high congruence results in high work satisfaction, low congruence results in low satisfaction, and thiseffect will not be affect by the dimensions of the career anchors3. The work satisfaction is higher for those with one career anchor than thosewith several complementary career anchors; and those with severalcomplementary career anchors is higher than those with several mutuallyinconsistent career anchors.
