The first"New Concept Writing Contest"is held by Mengya magazine associated with 7 colleges and universities of China in 1999. The contest succeed and released a group of youth writers. Hanhan was one of those who acquired the first prize of"New Concept Writing Contest"in 1999. He led the fashion of the"post-1980s writing"by publishing the novel named《Sanchongmen》which has brought forth great response at that time. Then a group of youth writers who were born in 1980s such as Hanhan,Guojingming,Zhangyueran,Zhoujianing appeared. They are hard working to write a lot of works that mainly about the youth,love,growing-up experience,city life. Their works enter into the vision of public and greatly welcomed by the readers with same age and become Literature-Bestsellers by press packaging and media advertising. The"post-1980s writing"becomes outstanding cultural phenomenon and literary phenomenon in recent years. There are a lot of comments with fragments of writing. They are also noticed by contemporary Chinese literary circles.The"post-1980s writing"is a component part of contemporary Chinese literature and has an unignored position. Because it is a new cultural or literary phenomenon and is lack of systemic research in culture or literature about it by now. This thesis chooses the"post-1980s writing"as the research object and is based on textual interpretation and uses corresponding cultural and literary theory to analyse the significance of literature,culture and society systematically. Firstly, the preface summarizes the overall situation of the"post-1980s writing", carding,classifying and inducing the group of writers,works of them and arguments about them. Secondly, the first chapter analyzes the background of the"post-1980s writing"as well as its influence on their creations. That includes the background of the age: the process of urbanization of China's society and the prevalence of the trend of thought of post-modernism in the world, the rigorous and unified educational system of China, the marketization of culture manufacture mechanism, literature commericalization and the rise of the network literature. The second chapter makes the overview of the"post-1980s writing"from the angle of social culture. It discusses the culture logics of the postmodernism as well as the deficiency of the subjectivity on modern people that reflected from the writing of the"post-1980s". Their writings have the postmodernism's characteristic of planarization,fragmentation and playfulness. The consumption of postmodernist society makes their writing intergrow with market and to win, their subjectivity disappeared in the corrosion of consumerism. Their writing displayed multiple styles and subjects because of multiculturism. The third chapter mainly uses the Frankfurt School's critical theory,consumption culture theory and psychoanalysis theory to analyze and interpretate the"post-1980s"writing's subject matter,thinking and emotion,cultural connotations,social cognition value and so on from the angle of the relationship between their writing and the reality. No matter what the relationship between them and reality is confrontation,satire,identification or alienation, they express themselves through writing. Finally, the fourth chapter points out significance and shortcomings of the"post-1980s writing".
