Chinese Knot Elements In Product Design Applications

A research of Chinese-knot is made in this thesis. From knot to traditional pan-chang ,from planar line and geometrical pattern to three-dimensional slip knot, the culture of Chinese-knot factors have been full of the whole space of humans survival and development, and it have expressed human's inward demand in all ages. It is also a new starting point for culture heritage. It embodies the unity of beauty, truth and good harmony and combines content with the formal beauty. Chinese knot, after evolution of thousands of years, has already built up a special artistic symbol system historically. The emergence and development of the knot is reviewed in this thesis; as an independent symbol system of the characteristic of the knot is explored; the knot symbolic significance in real life is analyzed.Since Chinese nation has a long history, the nation's personality is constructed in this process.By the research of knot cultural, the power of China's traditional culture elements is discovered; a new suitable space for the survival and growing of Chinese culture element is developed.
