There was great ideological movement in Ming & Qing Dynasties. The Treatise on Mnemonic Arts, which was entitled by the Matteo Ricci in 1596, was the first book illustrates about physiology of memory and the western ways of memory in Chinese. This paper covers three aspects in this topic. Firstly, is the influence of the book; follow by, the reason why the influence level is minimal; lastly, how the Chinese scholastics valued and absorbed the Western thought in 16th when they encountered with it in Ming & Qing Dynasties? And did solid learning (shixue) influence on the assimilation of the Western thought in certain content. Though this way, the author tries to figure out how the Western ideas affected on Chinese scholastics as well as its characteristic and rule .
