Study On Chinese Language Acquisition Of Matteo Ricci

Matteo Ricci,the missionaries from Italy,who wrotenineteen books by himself in Chinese During his missionary work in China.What he wrote was collected by Weizheng Zhu named The Chinese Writing Articles of Matteo Ricci.This paper is based on this book combining with the Chinesedictionaryand CCL corpus.Starting from the difficulties which are found in the remain books and materials related to him.The paper adopt statistical method contrastive analysis and summarized methods to solve this difficulties in phonetic and vocabularycharacters.while draw a general conclusion of his learning ways by analysis the articles from linguistic point.During the process,analysis his usages which are totally different from Chinese in vocabulary part and the understanding of Confucianism based on his writing articles..At last,analysis the different expression ways compared with Chinese grammatical rules from the positive and negative prospect.This paper isdivided into three parts: the introduction,the main text and the conclusion.Thefirstchapter is the introduction,which briefly introduces the object of the study,thebackground of the study,the purpose of the study and the thought of how the paper works.The second chapter is going to introduce his journey to China and his acquisition process of Chinese based on the historical materials.The third chapter describes his Chinese language acquisition performance,including the difficulties of acquisition process,the solution of how he solve these difficulties and the results of his acquisition.Analysis the difficulties laid in phonetic and vocabularycharacters according to the historical books,draw a conclusion that he solves the the difficulty by two books.The first one is xi zi qi ji which introduces the phonetic notation in Latin alphabet.The second one is xi guo ji fa.In order toknow how he mark Latin alphabet to Chinese characters and how he study the traditional Chinese character,This paper analysis this two books carefully.The paper analyzes the results of the Chinese language acquisition in Ricci's,mainly contains the production of new words.Comparing with the Chinese Dictionaryandthe linguistic data from CCL corpus.Sum up the total numbers of the new words and then classify them into different category.Finally illustrate the new words by giving some examples.The fourth chapter describes the different understanding of the words he used in his articles,the different thoughts from Confucianism by giving some typical examples.The fifth chapter introduces the error types of his grammatical rules based on the book The Argumentation of Friends by comparing the linguistic data from CCL corpus.Then based on the two books-The Argumentation of Friends The twenty-five Theories,analyzing the function word zhito illustrate his successful Chinese language acquisition.The sixth chapter is going to draw a general conclusion about his Chinese language acquisition.Then explore three teaching implications for TCSL(teaching Chinese as a second language)and point out the disadvantages of this paper.
