The late Ming and early Qing Dynasty is the onset period of Western Learning,the period of loanwords have their own distinct characteristics. However, they are not given the due status in Chinese history, especially in the Chinese vocabulary history.The paper selected the most influential missionary Matteo Ricci's works as a study object .With Collection Of Chinese Works by Matteo Ricci as the original text, which contains the largest number of works of Matteo Ricci to date.The paper try to analyze all the loanwords of Collection Of Chinese Works by Matteo Ricci,give out a main features of vocabulary of the book,and offer foundational material for the Chinese vocabulary research.Above all, The paper discusses the background of the loanwords came to china during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, this is the reason why the loanwords in Collection Of Chinese Works by Matteo Ricci have their own characteristics, in the second place, concentrating on searching out all loanwords, and making full use of Loanwords in Chinese Dictionary, The Etymological Dictionary of Chinese New Words, Chinese Dictionary and The Dictionary of Modern Chinese done to determine the identity of those loanwords and lexical.Based on it , the paper presents a more systematic and deeper study on the semantic category, translated by the way, part of speech and word-building points. After the study, we draw the conclusion that:the loanwords of natural sciences accounting for a major proportion of loanwords, which greatly exceeded the number of religion classes.The paraphrase is the main way of translation。All transliterations are names of places or persons. And there are some loanword—form words. Mainly on the part of speech with nouns, the formal side is the main word-building method.All the results have deep relationships with"cultural adaptation" policy practiced by the missionaries in late Ming and early Qing period.
