Matteo Ricci And Modern Science In Chian

"Introducing the Western Learning to the East" is one of the most important field for recently history research of China. The science and technology of Western which accepted by Chinese intellectuals after a long period of time were introduced into Chinese society by the missionaries. Matteo Ricci initiated a movement of "Introducing the Western Learning to the East", he also was the first man who opened the door of cultural communication for China. From a sociological standpoint, the "Western Learning" signaled the beginning of China’s conscious and long commitment to modernization. Therefore, Matteo Ricci was recognized as the noble people for cultural communication between the West and the East.Recently, Matteo Ricci has attracted great attention because he was the first one brought advanced knownlogy and technology into China. Thus, most of the reportes on Moatteo Ricci were focus on the constructment of cultural communication, the study from standpoint of modern science of China was sedom. More important, although the events of Moatteo Ricci facilitated researcher understanding the great affart on cultural communication, if we are not longitudinal analysis it from the course of development of modern science of China, we can not fundamentally understand the important role and the limitations in the process of Eastern and Western cultures spread, especially the spread of Western science in China. Thus, it is impossible for us to explore for an effective way of contemporary cultural heterogeneity from Matteo Ricci Pilot. Right now, most of researcher facused on the Ricci praise from the perspective of western learning in the field of science and technology. However, the expansion Ricci research from the ways and methods of learning from the Weatern will not only facilitate us to improve the work of Matteo Ricci’s own research but also promote the development of the history of science research.Based on a large number of classic and relevant literatures, in the present work, we divide the spirit of the expendition for Ricci in China into different histrorical phsese. The influences of main content, mode of transmission, strategies and results for Western modern science and technology were studied. Meanwhile, we have analyzed and discussed from different aspects of modern sicience in China for Matteo Ricci. And, there is still positive for us to study and learn the process of Matteo Ricci in the way of western learning, methods, science, which is benifiate today’s communication and exchange of different cultueres.
