Du ShiNiang's story was true during Emperor Wan Li, Ming Dynasty. Du ShiNiang was a real person who threw all her jewelry into Chang Jiang River and she herself also drowned because her lover betrayed her. Literati Song MaoCheng"Wen Qi Shi Yu You Ren (learning this thing from his friend)"created firstly Fu Qing Nong Zhuan which was embodied in Jiu Yue Ji, vol. 5. This article was reshipped and transcribed by other literates, and it was absorbed by many art forms. Beijing Opera, Sichuan Opera, Yue Opera and Ping Opera all have this melody; now it has been performed on the silver screen for many times. Till the present day, Du ShiNiang's story still convulses a great number of readers and audiences. In 2008, it was ranked into Non-material cultural heritage of Yang Zhou city, and then it became an advertising card for Yang Zhou's culture. Du ShiNiang's story will be spread aboard in a new form, and will be accepted and understood by more and more people.In this essay, I choose a little topic to study the beginning, development and spreading process of Du ShiNiang's story; and I coordinate the spreading status of Du ShiNiang's story from the angle of communication. We can get the general idea about the previous classical Chinese novels, folk novels, Legends of Ming and Qing Dynasty and various regional dramas in neoteric time. Many literary and art forms such as dramas, movies, TV programs and music all have works whose topic are about Du ShiNiang. For several centuries, Du ShiNiang's story has been spread abroad and quite popular. The wide spreading of Du ShiNiang's story is not only because the story itself has concentrated plot, vivid characters and precise structure, at the same time the story has rich history and culture, which makes its great ability of art reproduction.Except preface, this article has four chapters. The first chapter is mainly about the spreading of Du ShiNiang's story in the form of text. Here I will talk about the art achievement and the differences between the first edition of Song MaoCheng's Fu Qing Nong Zhuan and the most popular edition——Feng MengLong's Du ShiNiang Angrily Sank Jewelry Trousseaux. The second chapter is about the stage diffusion of Du ShiNiang's story. The stage diffusion is a systematic way among the spread of Du ShiNiang's story, which is more popular and influential than the diffusion in the form of text. The third chapter analyzes the diffusion of Du ShiNiang's story through the silver screen and the internet. Depending on the modern diffusing media can make faster diffusion, which not only enlarges the audience but brings the completely new understanding on Du ShiNiang's story. The fourth chapter studies the development and change of thoughts on Du ShiNiang's story and diffusing discourse.
