While they belong to different categories of art, the abstract music and concrete visual art---- painting do share something in common. Hence, the question of how to integrate the two, making the "invisible" music picturesque and "silent" paintings pleasant to the ear has been long under discussion. As for the abstract and concrete beauty of the Jazz posters, we must approach deep into the musical style itself, so as to master the correlations in the artistic elements of both art forms. This will help to exhibit the very spirit of Jazz and thus create splendid Jazz posters. The print design as a visual art is presented in the space, which highlights a momentary stillness of a motion. The basic elements of the dots, lines and facets are employed to create image, the combined use of which, eventually, will present lifelike images on the paper showing varied distances in the space. On the other hand, music is a part of the audio art, which is an abstract movement of melody. The time here in music is similar to the pencil used in drawing, and different musical notes placed at different times, so the image presented in music on the one hand, is vertically embodied by the notes at various pitches, while on the other hand, horizontally by the elapse of time. By use of melody, harmony, various instruments and so on, the different space relations in music are indeed the relations between the principal melody and the harmonies that accompany. The color presented in music, as a matter of fact, is the one embodied by the sound effect, which includes the various ways of composing sounds, the different tunes of the notes, as well as harmonies and the accompany of various instruments.Niklaus Troxler and Gunther Kieser are both masters of Jazz poster. But their ways to express the music differ. Niklaus Troxler preferred to create with the two-dimensional dots, lines and facets, whose masterpieces include "The Chorus Concert", "Night and Light", etc. Gunther Kieser, on the other hand, mainly used the surrealistic approach of patching, and his famous works include the poster series of folk Blues in USA and the posters for the Jazz festival in Frankfurt. They both paid due attention to the abstract and concrete symbols and thus drove home the very spirit of Jazz----improvisatory, counter- tradition and free movement.
