Ambiguity phenomena have been existed since the ancient time. On the study of ambiguity, western linguists started earlier than China. Mr. Lv Shuxiang and Mr. Zhu Dexi have mentioned Chinese ambiguity in the book named Grammar Rhetorical Speech. In this book, they gave analyses through some ambiguity examples. And in their point of view, as an expression defect, ambiguity ought to be avoided. Mr. Zhao Yuanren's English paper Chinese ambiguity Issue, which was published overseas, started ambiguity research in China. Since then, the study on Chinese ambiguity has been developed continually dealing with many aspects, such as ambiguity definition, ambiguity classification, the reason for ambiguity appeared, ambiguity's polarization and dissolution, ambiguity degree, etc. According to these studies on ambiguity, we find that ambiguity research involves many aspects including syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, which named as "three planes" theory in grammar study area. Therefore, this paper tries to analyze ambiguity phenomena in modern Chinese with "three planes" theory and avoid blight, which is brought by negative ambiguity. Moreover, it proves that positive ambiguity creates special effect and plays more important role in written language communication expression in daily life.Exordium in this paper will give a brief introduction on current study of ambiguity. Beside that, it will review previous researches and point out the study value and structure of the whole paper. In the first chapter, it will introduce "three planes" theory and find out the connection between this theory and ambiguity study. In the second chapter, this paper discusses some promiscuous concept on ambiguity and point out the certain definition of ambiguity, which is the basis of paper's point of view. In the third chapter, ambiguity is classified according to the "three planes" theory. Moreover, it introduces ambiguity phenomena in each planes, and emphases on the pragmatics plane ambiguity, named as ambiguity explanation, which is a potential concept full of special expression effect and social value. This chapter analyzes the reason and process of ambiguity explanation's appearance and put a theory basis for ambiguity in the following chapter. According to the introduction in chapter three, we find out Syntax plane and semantics plane are static and multi-meaning. Beside that, they possess possibility of negative and dynamic ambiguity's appearance. At the same time, some dynamic ambiguities on pragmatics plane can also create negative ambiguities. It should be avoided. Therefore, in chapter four, it introduces some method on how to eliminate negative ambiguity. And in the last chapter, it shows that positive ambiguity creates pragmatics value. And in this way, this paper annotates ambiguity's research actuality and development potential. This paper quotes some examples, which have been used by many scholars to analyze during the writing process. It tends to pursue representational character. Since the author has not acquirements enough, this paper only gives some simple and regular analysis, which still has to be improved. It hoped that this paper can play some positive role for this study.
