Zheng Improved "since .1950's Phenomenon

Since the time that People's Republic of China have been founded, Chinese folk instrument circle hold a complete reform to the traditional instruments for the purpose of its according with the request of era development in the leadership of the government. This kind of instrument reform is generally called "the music instruments improvement".The article focuses on "Zheng Improvements" among the wave of Chinese musical instruments reform since 1950's. Using the Ethnomusicology and Cultural anthropology concepts and methods, it analyzes the matters of instrument structure reform under the flag of " improvement" and its effects on playing techniques and zheng music production. The article makes cultural consideration to the phenomenon of "Zheng Improvements" as well. The article intends to survey the procession of "Zheng Improvements" during the past 50 years, and evaluate objectively the advantages and disadvantages of the "Zheng improvements". The writer also intends to acquaint the phenomenon of rapid traditional instruments reform from the angle of a whole of society, history and culture, in order to provide several reference to the developments of our Zheng art and traditional music.
